Nature should be your point of call for nearly all ailments. Getting back to nature is good for your mind, body and spirit. Some things you can do to get back to nature include, swimming, say in a water hole or river, also hiking, climbing, boating, surfing, or maybe even hangliding. Plus there are many more. When you go outdoors to exercise your range and physical responses are greater than just going to the gym, although that is good too.
I spent my Saturday at the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains. It was a two hour trip and thank goodness I had my headphones. But it was worth it, just to sit calmly at a lookout in the lovely peace and quiet.
Sacred land, the Three Sisters Meenhi, Wimlah and Gunnedoo were turned to stone by an Aboriginal elder to prevent them being taken for brides by another tribe. The warring tribe killed him and no-one has ever been able to bring them back.
The air in the Blue Mountains is is very fresh and invigorating. There are many walking tracks graded from easy to very hard and those in between. There is lots of interesting flora and if you are lucky you might see some native animals, like koalas, emu's, snakes, goannas and the rare lyre birds.
Katoomba village has some lovely stores, great for op shopping, souveniers, boutiques and cafes, bars and restaurants. There are also lots of guest houses and hotels should you wish to stay the weekend. I went to the store: 'Incantation' and bought a lapus lazuli ring and an irresistable little glass unicorn. And I had a anzac biscuit and a latte from the coffee shop at the station.
Some people like the mountains, others like the beach. Some people like both. (Me) But there's no argument that getting some fresh air and sunshine helps you with your levels of vitamin D and joie de vivre. You might bring home some memories to treasure and maybe even a unicorn. I hope you enjoy your next weekend outdoors.
