Climate Change.

On Friday  80,000 people gathered in the Domain in Sydney to protest about climate change because we need our leaders to enact sweeping changes like using less fossil fuels and banning single use plastics in order to save our planet.

Even if plastics weren't destructive to the environment, I fail to see how we got into such a bad habit of mindless waste. Reusing containers is cheaper and more conscientious, and now we have to, to save the planet.

So what can we do?  There are plenty of things we can do as individuals to address the problem. Like adjusting your politics according to environmentally friendly practices; Installing solar power; Investing in wind power and other environmentally sound companies.

There are also small changes we can make at home. Here are some suggestions on how to live it:

  • Turn off appliances that you are not using which have those little power lights on them.
  • Use a cake of all purpose soap for all of your cleaning needs.
  • Buy in bulk, where one large container may be less bulk than lots of smalller ones.
  • Use the shortest cycle on your washing machine.
  • Use a clothes airer to dry indoor washing.
  • Recycle your garbage.
  • Put litter in the bin
  • Shop locally.
  • Upcycle things.
  • Buy clothes made of natural materials
  • Use a reusable shopping bag made of natural fibres. You can buy these here: newtownchic.etsy.com
  • Walk, carpool or catch public transport instead of driving
  • Wash the dishes by hand with all purpose soap.
You can empower yourself with your democratic rights and vote for clean energy. There are also plenty of small things you can do to save energy and reduce waste. Even if you can't do everything on this list you can try to do most of it. If everyone does them it will make a huge difference. Then it will be joy to the world.

Create Your Day.

Photo by  Sedki Alimam  on  Unsplash This article is about the power of intention. Intentions are like a seed, that we sow and, later reap. Say that we set our intention, to enjoy our day. So you say to yourself, I intend to enjoy my day. I might later on do this, or that because it will help me to enjoy my day. Or, I might work in the cafe today, because it is nice weather and the time will pass by pleasantly. Or something more specific, I would really enjoy to have lunch with friends, so I arrange that. I intend for the conversation to go well, and all of us have a great time, and we do. Then, maybe a week later, I do like to dance for my exercise but I also like the luxury of the gym, it's just something that I like, so I think I will spend one evening at the gym this week. So Yay! Then suddenly I am quantum leaping, from one enjoyment to another, reaping what I sowed. And this is such a learning experience, because I am experiencing my own power, a...
