Grit




Grit is a concept in the book 'Grit' by Angela Duckworth. It means passion and perseverance. In the book Angela has many examples of people who kept trying despite difficulties. People who committed to things despite all the odds. People who are determined to achieve something no matter what it takes. It's really about taking the long road. In this article we will cover some of the characteristics of gritty people, so you too can be gritty and achieve everything you want to. 

Back-bone 

Backbone means strength of character. You are a good person, you do the right thing, you're conscientious, punctual, and you strive for excellence in all matters. 

Confidence

Confidence means being sure of yourself in everything that you do, it is competence, the belief that you can succeed at things and the ability to foster healthy relationships. You build confidence by experience and practice. 

Courage

Courage is the guts to embark on your projects and take risks. it is also sticking to your guns and standing up for yourself. 

Determination

Determination is being able to push forward and keep going, it is tenacity. 

Firmness

Is unwavering discipline and commitment to something. It is curbing vices such as laziness and doing what needs to be done. 

Fortitude

Is the courage to push forward. it helps if you have faith and a strong vision. 

Grit

Is perseverance and passion for long term goals. It is the ability to practice consistently until you succeed and master something. 

Guts

Is being able to listen to your instincts in life and in love. 

Hardihood

Is being stoic, which means to keep going and not complaining in the face of adversity. 

Heart

Is dreaming big and following your passion. 

Mettle

Is your level of resilience; the ability to bounce back after setbacks. It is not letting yourself be effected by things that you can't help, such as another person's anger or laziness.

Morale

Morale is having courage. It is the belief that you can do something. You use positive self-talk; practice strong sense of self-esteem and also praise and encourage others. 

Pluck

Is taking your opportunities. They say that opportunity only knocks once, so you need to be hot off the pan here. 

Resolution

Is making up your mind to do something, having goals and consistently working towards them. 

Spunk

Spunk is courage and determination, finding some work to do and doing it joyfully. 

Stamina

Is having the energy to endure the long road ahead. It is focused on long term goals and delayed gratification. 

Toughness

Being tough means to have a high level of frustration tolerance and the ability to withstand adversity. It is mental and physical strength and the capacity to be robust and healthy. 

Willpower.

The ability to delay gratification and focus on long term goals. 

So as you can see there are many angles to having grit. It's something you can learn and if you do it can turn your life around. You will be able to achieve greatness even if you do it little by little. Practice makes perfect and delayed gratification brings success.

Looking After Your Hands

But sometimes the activity takes it's toll and you can get RSI, Arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome amongst other illnesses of the joints and tendons. In these cases it can become very painful to use your hands. This can be frustrating and disappointing in life. Thankfully there are some things you can do that can prevent and repair damage to your hands.  Basin. If your hands are sore and you need some relief fill a basin with hot water and dunk your hands in it for a minute. Then fill the basin up with cold water and dunk your hands in it for a minute. Repeat a few times.  Fish oil Fish oil is often recommended for joint problems. Etsy has many original items to choose from, and handicrafts from a vast array of of talent.
