This blog endorses the mediterranean diet. Which is a five food group diet with some specifics added such as olive oil and beans. The peasant diet of the mediterranean is known to make people be healthier and live longer than other parts of the world. Remember, it is not all about your weight, it is also about nutrition.

A mediterranean diet consists of, eating simple wholefoods. That's it in a nutshell.

Some clues to living it. Are to eat vegetarian meals two or three times a week, fish once or twice, chicken once, and occasionally red meat. If you must have sweets eat a small portion of dark chocolate. Or make some cookies with stevia and whole wheat flour. Cut down the coffee, the alcohol, any other bad habits, and do some exercise.

A word on Vitamin Deficiencies.

Have your doctor test for vitamin deficiencies. Deficiencies in something like iron, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium or the B group vitamins can have serious effects on your health. They might prescribe a vitamin supplement. Whilst it is unadvisable to take antioxidents in pill form, it is quite safe to use most vitamin supplements. On the whole try to get your vitamin intake from a natural source, such as fruit or vegetables. Also lentils and mushrooms are packed with iron and are a nice change from heavy red meats.

Our next edition, will be on exercise.
