A Weekend Detox

Half-way through my weekend detox I started wondering what the use of it was and, came up with some quite controversial information. One couple spent a small fortune on juices and claimed they ended up in ER. One thing might be true, detoxing may cause headaches, even if you are not a caffeine drinker. At this point I could go either way, use it as an excuse, afterall a cafe latte does sound nice, or keep going. This is the article Here

Giving up tea and coffee didn't sound like a great idea to me, which is why I chose to use a green tea detox blend for my detox. I also had another packet of tea also a detox blend but not caffeinated.

So going by the advice in this article Here. I did the shopping and commenced my detox. Which is what my detox is based on. Ideally, you will need a juicer for this program  but a lot of fruits can be mixed in a blender with ice water instead. There is no need to go to a special company, I think basically what happened to the afore-mentioned couple was that they were ripped off!

Buy yourself a couple of packets of detox tea. If you don't want caffeine headaches use a blend that includes green tea. Make sure the other one has zero caffeine. Start your detox on the friday night with a light vegetarian meal.

Use any combination of:

Melon
Papaya
Mango
Grapes
Apples
Carrot
Spinach
Beetroot
Some dried fruit such as apricots, or dates.

Also make yourself some energy bars the day beforehand.

1 cup peanut butter
2 cups oats
One tablespoon of whey protein
1/2 - 1 cup of honey
1 handful Cacao nibs (optional)

Melt the peanut butter and honey over medium heat. Mix in the oats, whey and cacao nibs and stir, lightly toasting. Press into a square dish and place in the refrigerater overnight.

The detox is basically based on juices. If you get very hungry have a little bit of the energy bar, or some whole fruit.

If you can't make it through the dinner hour you may have a small bowl of porridge with soaked fruit and fruit juice  or some plain brown rice. Or simply a slice of wholemeal toast.

Now, the fun begins. What to do during your detox. Primarily, rest, sorry, no exercise, work or any other strenuous activity. Do not stop your prescribed medications except on doctors advice.

Over the two days, you should have plenty of time to do some or all of the following:

Rest and keep warm. Nap if you like.

Watch movies on Gaia.

Do a full body mud mask. You can buy mud in bulk on ebay. Whack it on and lie between a few towels for half and hour then shower. It will feel as though a bad spirit is sqelching out of you via your integumentary system.

Do a facial, ie: cleanse, mask, steam, exfoliate, tone and moisturise.

Go to a day spa or have someone come to you for a massage or reflexolgy session.

Lie down and do a progressive muscle relaxation, you can find one on youtube.

Give yourself Reiki or have someone perform it on you.

Skin brush, get a natural bristle skun brush and brush your skin 5 or 6 times in sections beginning at your feet and moving up your body and towards your heart. Do this just before a shower.

Take a bath in bath salts. We have a really good product here downunder known as Radox Bath Soak. Use plenty!

Give your hair an overnight treatment, any old hair mask will do.

Write in your journal

Do some light reading

Listen on your headphones to healing sounds. Try searching for binaural beats on youtube.

Hypnotise yourself or even see a professional hypnotist. You can find some pre-recorded hypnotisms on youtube.

Get 15 minutes of Sun.

Spiritually cleanse yourself of someone, or some ideas that are toxic in your life. Just imagine it leaving you along with the physical cleanse.

Don't drink, drive or ingest anything toxic.

What I liked about this detox was that it wasn't impossible, such as live on grapefruit juice for ten days.

I also found out via research that you should live on a full time detox plan, incorporating, wholefruits and vegetables, rice, grains, protein and good fats. But ommitting sugar, white flour and all other processed foods.

So you could see my detox as a kind of teacher, like maybe I need more fruit and veg. Or how am I going without tea and coffee with milk. The main thing I noticed was that my urine was clear.

To conclude I do not see anything wrong with doing this program once every 3 months. You're not starving yourself, and it can't hurt. And it does feel as though it cleanses you. Whatever else you beleve it might do for you and there are many claims, maybe what you believe or what the results are after trying different things, how stringent you are and what your diet is like the rest of the time.

I think for our couple they may have been unprepared, got hoaxed, exercised during the detox, got lightheaded and basically panicked. It also cost them money.

Cleansing could have even backfired on them, for instance if maybe you feel nauseated. But this might be normal, who knows? Here is an artcle that states the positive effects of detoxing, if you might like to read it.

Based on the two sides of the pendulum you can make up your own mind whether to detox. If it works for you, then that is fantastic. Just be aware not to go to any harsh extremes.

Keep in mind no strenuous activity, you won't have enough calories for it.

All in all, a little different but a very relaxing weekend.

One more thing, don't forget to keep up your intake of filtered water.

Good Luck.

Create Your Day.

Photo by  Sedki Alimam  on  Unsplash This article is about the power of intention. Intentions are like a seed, that we sow and, later reap. Say that we set our intention, to enjoy our day. So you say to yourself, I intend to enjoy my day. I might later on do this, or that because it will help me to enjoy my day. Or, I might work in the cafe today, because it is nice weather and the time will pass by pleasantly. Or something more specific, I would really enjoy to have lunch with friends, so I arrange that. I intend for the conversation to go well, and all of us have a great time, and we do. Then, maybe a week later, I do like to dance for my exercise but I also like the luxury of the gym, it's just something that I like, so I think I will spend one evening at the gym this week. So Yay! Then suddenly I am quantum leaping, from one enjoyment to another, reaping what I sowed. And this is such a learning experience, because I am experiencing my own power, a...

But sometimes the activity takes it's toll and you can get RSI, Arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome amongst other illnesses of the joints and tendons. In these cases it can become very painful to use your hands. This can be frustrating and disappointing in life. Thankfully there are some things you can do that can prevent and repair damage to your hands.  Basin. If your hands are sore and you need some relief fill a basin with hot water and dunk your hands in it for a minute. Then fill the basin up with cold water and dunk your hands in it for a minute. Repeat a few times.  Fish oil Fish oil is often recommended for joint problems.
