Gut-Health

Looking after your gut health is the latest news in health science right now. The gut contains bacteria and micro-organisms in the gut which are known as the gut microbiome. The microbiome helps you to digest food and bring nutrients to the rest of the body.  Looking after your gut  fixes tummy bugs, reflux, indigestion, bowel problems, other stomach-related problems and can even link to your brain. So I have decided to collate a list of substances that will aid in the health of your gut.

Yakult and Yoghurt

Yakult is a Japanese fermented milk which has good bacteria, which is helpful to the gut. Yoghurt as you know is also helpful to the health of the gut.  Fermented milks contain helpful probiotics which promote good bacteria in the gut.

Prebiotic bread

Improves the levels of probiotics in the gut, resulting in the aid of many physical problems such as bowel problems, obesity and diarrhea.

Grains

Contain fiber and many nutrients, but what we are concerned with here is fiber, which helps with healthy intestines and regular bowel movements.

Fiber

Other sources of fiber include:

  • Oats
  • Lentils
  • Legumes

    • Peas.
    • Broad beans.
    • Chickpeas.
    • Soybeans.
    • Beans
    • Peanuts.
  • Fruit
  • Veggies
  • Seeds
  • Nuts
  • Bread
  • Cereal
  • Pasta.

Supplements

Taking a supplement for gut health can't hurt. You can get supplements at your local supermarket or pharmacy.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains helpful probiotics. One or two teaspoons in a glass of water can help to heal your gut.

Miso

Miso is also a fermented food that is good for your over-all health and your gut.

Eat slowly

Eating slowly aids in digestion as it is more readily broken down in your stomach.

Medication

If you have chronic stomach problems your doctor might prescribe medication pertaining to your particular complaint. You can still heal your stomach if you try to do everything on this list. Then as the gut heals you may be able to reduce or omit your medication.

Dry crackers

Dry crackers might help to settle your stomach in the case of nausea.

Laughter

Well, they say laughter is the best medicine, and so, laughter as you can imagine can help you digest your food!

The gut/brain connection.

Believe it or not the stomach sends signals via the nervous system to the brain and vice versa. So good mental health can influence the health of your stomach and good stomach health can help and support the healthy functioning of your brain.

Exercise

Exercise is an overall proven hack for your health. It does so many things including: bringing nutrients from healthy eating to all the organs an parts of your body, overall good health. Exercise also helps digestion and regular bowel movements. And of course exercise can help you control your weight, which helps to keep your gut healthy.

So, I wish you all the best with your gut-health. Including a nutritious diet, savouring your food, plenty of probiotics, plenty of laughs, full of beans and long walks in the fresh air and sunshine, or exercise of your choice.

Create Your Day.

Photo by  Sedki Alimam  on  Unsplash This article is about the power of intention. Intentions are like a seed, that we sow and, later reap. Say that we set our intention, to enjoy our day. So you say to yourself, I intend to enjoy my day. I might later on do this, or that because it will help me to enjoy my day. Or, I might work in the cafe today, because it is nice weather and the time will pass by pleasantly. Or something more specific, I would really enjoy to have lunch with friends, so I arrange that. I intend for the conversation to go well, and all of us have a great time, and we do. Then, maybe a week later, I do like to dance for my exercise but I also like the luxury of the gym, it's just something that I like, so I think I will spend one evening at the gym this week. So Yay! Then suddenly I am quantum leaping, from one enjoyment to another, reaping what I sowed. And this is such a learning experience, because I am experiencing my own power, a...
